Gluten is mostly found in grains such as barley,wheat and rye. It has also been found in “triticale”,which is a cross between rye and wheat. A diet which excludes the protein gluten is known as “gluten free diet”. However,it is most popular among people who do not have any medical condition related to gluten. It has been claimed that the benefits of following this diet are weight loss,energy boost,and health improvement.
A family of proteins found in certain grains is called as gluten. There are some people who , after consuming foods containing gluten , feel uncomfortable and ill. The most severe reaction after gluten intake is known as celiac disease. Those who suffer from this disease often experience sharp pain in their abdomen,constipation,skin rash,diarrhea,bloating,weight loss,anemia,depression,tiredness and a general stomach discomfort.
Going on a gluten free diet requires careful attention to the ingredients and nutrient content of the food you are going to be consuming eventually. There a lot of naturally gluten free foods which can be part of your daily diet such as eggs,lean and and unprocessed meats,fish,poultry,low-fat dry products,beans,fruits and vegetables. Some of the grains,starches or flours which can be easily included while following a gluten free diet are flax, buckwheat, rice sorghum, amaranth, arrowroot, hominy,millet,corn,soy, teff, tapioca, quinoa and potato.
However,following a gluten free diet is not packed friendly at all. Most of the products which are free of gluten are expensive,and not everyone can afford them on a daily basis. Avoiding gluten is a true challenge. A simple way to avoid it completely, easily and effectively is by eating only single ingredient foods.
