BACK TO BASICS OF FOODS

In today’s day and age, it’s difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle, especially if you are not a fitness enthusiast. Blame it on the busy schedule or lack of motivation. No matter how hard you try, there are times when it’s difficult to follow a fitness regimen.

If you want to lose weight, and get to healthy lifestyle, but don’t know where to begin? Here are some starting points.

  • Replace half of your meal plate with non-starchy vegetables-

Focus on reducing your calories. Therefore, vegetables that contain starch like potato, corn and beans should be avoided as they contain a high amount of calories in general. Instead, switch to non-starchy vegetables like cabbage, carrots, eggplant, onion and radish. This will also help you in curbing your appetite as non-starchy vegetables contain more fibre and keep you full.

– Sugar and products that contain sugar like fruit juice concentrates, pancakes, waffles etc. Replace sugar with honey. Eliminate them from your diet as you will end up feeling hungry soon even if you eat them. Eventually, you end up eating more often and stay in a caloric surplus zone.

  • Replace your regular tea and coffee with green tea or black coffee- ditch your regular cuppa and go the organic way instead. A latte normally has over 200 calories in a single serving, whereas black coffee is caffeine minus these calories. So, a smart choice will be to have tea or coffee without adding milk and sugar.
  • go nuts- when we feel hungry and want to munch on something, we generally choose unhealthy choices like biscuits ,chips, sugary sodas, chocolates and other similar high sugar foods. For munchies, you could replace your chips with dry fruits and biscuits with roasted grams and pulses-a better nutritious choice.
